THE HIDDEN SANCTUARY ON THE SHELTERED NORWEGIAN COAST
KYN is located in Norway, on the country’s western coast in Stavang, Sunnfjord. The estate is set slightly withdrawn from the open ocean and naturally sheltered by a landscape of islands, skerries, and fjords. This part of Western Norway is defined by a varied coastline, where protected waters meet open sea, and where changing light, weather, and seasons shape the surroundings throughout the year.
The area offers direct access to both land and sea, with short distances to forest, mountains, and coastline. Conditions are calmer than on the outer coast, while still closely connected to the wider North Atlantic landscape
The estate's origins reach back to the Viking Age, when Stavang served as a safe haven for sailors traveling between eastern and western Norway. Today, the houses Helmer and Holberg remain under careful restoration — preservation through use, guided by the principle that what was built with care must continue to be lived in.
TWO RESIDENCES,
TWO CENTURIES of MEMORY.
Beamed timber, gilt accents, and morning light through tall sash windows. Holberg honors the lineage of the estate — refined, restrained, and deeply lived-in.
Each house is rooted in the correct historical decade — the wallpapers, antiques, textiles and color compositions chosen to reinforce the estate's evolving story while remaining livable for modern guests.
Hand-blocked wallpapers, deep windows, and a quiet language of textiles. Helmer holds the slower hours — a chamber of layered green, soft linen and the long Nordic dusk.
Local traditions, craftsmanship and the surrounding landscape define the atmosphere. Each experience is shaped by place and offered without ceremony.
